Some people go through life not experiencing hard times,
however, everyone experiences something sometime. My sister, Meg,
is one of the strongest people i know. Why do i say that? She is
21, beautiful and model thin, but people don't see past the
perfect image. She has been through somuch.
It started with John. She fell in love with him, and he played her
over and over again with the same weak logic. But anyway, that's
nothing compared to other things. After John and her were over,
things were getting better. She met a guy, Micheal, and things
were going well between them. They got a strong bond and dated for
about 6 months...but one day while Meg was at our dad's, he just
suddenly got up and just left. What he said to her is
unforgettable: "I have places to go, people to see and things to
do." While this is a common phrase, he said it coldly.
I wasn't there that night, but instead I was at an all night skate
at the local rink. 7 AM came quickly. I was at home trying to get
a few hours rest when I heard sobbing. I lay there thinking, "what
happened? Is my family okay?" My fear of the unknown made me lay
there for another 20 minutes. I finally went out where Meg was and
asked what happened. She said "Mike...he's gone." I just hugged
her then. This was the day before easter, and later that day I
found out he had commited suicide. She was sad for a very long
time.
Again, months go by and she just starts getting happier again. She
even went out on a date with a guy However, this didn\'t end up
being good. He acted very polite and bought her a drink. What she
didn't know was that he had slipped her a date-rape drug...and she
woke up naked in a hotel. Of course, we were worried sick when she
didn't come home until 8 am. She didn't remember much, and of
course this shocked her
She had friends of course. One of her best friends who helped her
to her feet everytime was Tommy.; Tommy was a nice kid to
everyone's judgement...he and Meg became best friends. They even
thought about getting a house together (may I remind you this was
a strong friendship, not a relationship). As most friends do
though, they got into a little arguement. After about a week, she
found out he had overdosed on cocaine and passed away. This was of
course, VERY painful.
I don't know how she does it, but she still smiles and laughs. She
is a reminder to me on how to be strong. She goes through life
seldom showing her grief. She is admired by many, even those who
don't know her story. She is an example to all that life DOES go
on, no matter what
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." -Phil.
